Projector Resolution

When hiring a data projector consider the resolution of the data projector as this can impact the quality of your presentation. Data projectors have either XGA (1024 x 768), WXGA ( 1280 x 800), or HD (1920 x 1080) resolutions which is a fixed resolution.  So regardless of the signal coming in e.g: from a laptop the data projector can only present in its native resolution.

What does this mean exactly?

If your laptop is the latest HD (1920 x 1080) signal pushing to an older XGA (1024 x 768) data projector the image that the data projector receives needs to be shrunk down so the information can output to the native resolution of the hired data projector.

When sound reflects, it reaches the mic later and combines with direct sound, creating an uneven frequency response known as the ”comb filter effect,” resulting in an unnatural sound.

The figure above demonstrates an improper way to mic a person at a lectern. Placing the microphone too far away from the mouth causes reflected sound from the lectern’s surface to be picked up, leading to an audible comb-filter effect that sounds hollow or tonally coloured.

This figure demonstrates a superior method of mic placement for a person speaking at a lectern. The microphone should be positioned about 8 inches from the mouth to reduce the audible comb-filter effect caused by sound reflected from the lectern.
